Nillumbik is issuing their draft Fire Management Plan for community consultation. Refer to their website for dates, times and locations information sessions, or provide feedback online.

New Fireground Channels - commencing 18 November

District is implementing new fireground channels, commencing 18 November.

From this date:

  1. Our new fireground channel will be 64 (previously: 63).
  2. The secondary fireground channel will be 87 (previously: 64).

Nillumbik Group fire ground channels will be 45 and 34.

Vicfire remains the same - channel 61.

From 18 November, all appliances should have their radios set:

  • Mobile: 61
  • Portables: 64

Churchill Fellowships

Please find attached some information about the Churchill Fellowships that may be of interest to CFA members.


The Churchill Trust was established in 1965 to honour the memory of Sir Winston Churchill by awarding overseas research Fellowships known as 'Churchill Fellowships'. Churchill Fellowships allow you to design your own research project, travel the world and further your knowledge in your chosen field, before returning to make a real contribution to Australian society.

Annual Laundering of Structural PPC

Structural PPC needs to be laundered and inspected at least every 12 months.  The PPC of the following people are due for laundering.  Can those listed please:

  1. Find your red "pizza box" that the PPC originally came in. They are in the turn-out room at Arthurs Creek, unless you kept them yourself
  2. Remove bracers, gloves, flash-hoods and anything else in the pockets
  3. Pack your PPC into the plastic bags that are inside the pizza box
  4. Leave it at Arthurs Creek station by noon Sunday 11 November.  Geoff will be there on Sunday to provide assistance if required

Expressions of Interest are currently being sought for people to be trained in the role of ground observers.

Those people need to have knowledge and interest in:

  • Working in a small team
  • Weather
  • Bushfire behaviour
  • Maps/GPS
  • Computer skills
