The Tree Project - invitation to assist

Some of you may be aware of the Tree Project - Blacksmiths from around the world contributing pieces to make a large steel tree to commemorate the 2009 fires and be placed at Strathewen. See here for more: http://www.treeproject.abavic.org.au/index.html

The project coordinator's name is Amanda Gibson.

Amanda rang me yesterday extending the offer to all brigades in the area to come along and visit the workshop located in Whittlesea – in the big red factory near the Showgrounds.

She also has asked if any members would like to contribute time to the project and assist with stamping messages onto leaves to go on to the tree and in any other volunteer capacity – they will really welcome CFA members to be part of the process if they so desire.

Whilst it is short notice, this invitation commences as of this weekend – so if you're at a loss for things to do, maybe this might spark your interest.

If so, please contact Amanda directly via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Direction regarding the wearing of audio / visual devices on PPC

Dear all,

It has come to my attention that some members are wearing personal video and audio recording devices on their PPC.

Whilst in a privacy sense this is not technically illegal, I have been advised of examples where the images / audio recorded have been used inappropriately and without the correct permissions.

As a result I issue the following direction:

No audio and / or visual recording devices shall be worn on PPC without written permission from the Operations Manager.

If members wish to seek permission, it shall be via the Captain / OIC outlining the purpose.

I trust that this clarifies this issue and I ask you to distribute this to members as appropriate.

Regards

Rohan Luke
Operations Manager
